One of the other downsides to permanently wearing glasses is that you are not able to just pop into a shop and buy yourself a new pair of sunnies. Generally, you are limited to your normal prescription glasses and look on, or should I say squint on, while others enjoy the sunshine, with open eyes. If I wanted to buy a pair of sunglasses, they would have to be made to my prescription and were generally very expensive, meaning if I wanted a pair, I would have to choose very carefully so as not to be out of fashion by the time next summer comes round. Invariably I fail at this and so the expensive cycle continues. But, is it possible to buy cheap prescription sunglasses anywhere?
Fortunately, increased competition and the internet has forced suppliers and opticians alike to reduce their prices and so it is becoming fantastic for the consumer to buy prescription sunglasses at low cost.
Not only that, there is far a greater range of choice in frames (even designer such as Versace, Oakley, Playboy, etc), and also in lens itself.
You are also not limited to just a single tint pair of sunglasses either. Sure if you want this, this is fine, but there are other interesting options out there too.
For example, it is possible to get prescription reactalite lenses fitted whereby the lens reacts to sunlight and darkens accordingly. Once away from sunlight, the glasses simply revert back to their neutral clear state until they hit sunlight again. This makes them very useful for driving in, as you will be at an advantage over normal sighted people with sunnies on, if you go into a tunnel, or suddenly the clouds block the sunlight. Your lenses will simply lose their tint accordingly, offering you clear vision at all times.
Another option is to have permanently tinted glasses. This means that the lenses are constantly a certain tint, but not as dark as sunglasses are. They are generally slightly heavier in tint than car windows as a comparison. They take the edge off illuminance.
Normally, all these types of glasses come with a choice of tint colour as well, further increasing options and the range.
And of course, there is a huge choice of different styles of frames to choose from, from basic low budget frames up to designer.
