How to Make a Fabric Eyeglass Case

Who says you can’t have a cool eye glass case for next to nothing? You can coordinate fabrics to go with outfits, with your (handmade) computer carrying case and business card case and wow your friends with your creativity. With these simple instructions, you’ll soon be sewing these up as gifts!

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:
Sewing machine and thread
1 piece fabric 3-1/2″ x 14″
I piece coordinating fabric 3-1/2″ x 3

1 Hem one end of the longer piece of fabric with a 1/2-inch hem. Next, hem one end of the smaller piece of fabric with a 1/2-inch hem.

2 Place the smaller piece of fabric on the larger one (printed sides facing) so that the hem made in step 1 is towards the middle part of the larger piece of fabric.

3 Fold the hemed end of the larger piece of fabric up to the hemed edge of the smaller piece of fabric.

4 Stitch around all four sides of the fabric, keeping edges matched up, with a 1/4-inch seam.

5 Turn inside out. The smaller piece of fabric is now the flap of your new eyeglass case and the larger pocket is for your eyeglasses.

Tips & Warnings
You can experiement with other lengths of fabric to make pencil pockets, cell phone holders or business card cases. Have fun with this project by using up those scraps of fabric you’ve been wondering what to do with!.
