Choosing Fashionable Eyewear to Suit Your Style

Today, eyewear is often used in the form of sunglasses to make a fashion statement. A broad array of brand names and styles make that possible. Additionally, those who use prescription eyewear in order to correct vision also have plenty of styles and designs to choose from.

In fact, there are so many styles and designs to choose from, it might seem like a daunting task at times.

Fashionable eyewear has been worn by some of history’s most famed names. Benjamin Franklin invented the bifocals and wore spectacles himself. President Theodore Roosevelt was well known for his pair of spectacles which included a neck chord that hung from the right side of the frame.

John Lennon was another famous person that wore glasses a distinct style of sunglasses. Three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion Stu Ungar famously wore “Lennon-style” sunglasses at the final table of the 1997 WSOP Main Event.

When choosing the style that is right for you, it can be just as important as any piece of jewelry or clothing that you choose to wear, and even your chosen hairstyle. Different shaped lenses compliment differently shaped faces.

Round faces typically go for angular or rectangular styles. Square-shaped faces tend to go with round or oval frames. A rule of thumb is to have the eyewear make your face appear longer and thinner.

Don’t forget to take into consideration the materials used in manufacturing. Metal and plastic (including many varying types of both) are the commonly used frame materials. The same shaped frames built from different materials will produce a different look.
