Eyeglass Case Instructions

There are many ways to create your own eyeglass case without having to re-purchase replacements. Whether you need extra cases to keep up with your pair of glasses, or you would like to craft an eyeglass case for your personal enjoyment, make creating eyeglass cases is fun and enjoyable. Visit your local craft store for supplies. Be creative and use as many craft materials as you can to make them unique.

Colorful Flannel Eyeglass Cases
Gather multicolored flannel material, small ribbons and fusible squares; it is best to go for colors and hues that would complement each other like orange, brown and white. Overlap the two materials and allow the top ribbon to extend at least 1/4 inch. Stitch small ribbons together along the edges with a sewing machine. Fold the top ribbon to the back of the square and stitch close to the edge.

Finally, fold the material pieces together, carefully aligning the ribbon’s ends. Sew the long edge and the bottom short edge using a 1/4-inch seam allowance and round the corner. Clip the corner and turn the case right side out to showcase your colorful flannel eyeglass case.

Fabric Eyeglass Cases
Use old, unused but hip clothing fabric to stitch together an eyeglass case. Measure the glass case with the glasses on top to get an idea of how long the fabric should be. Cut the fabric into a rectangle about 2 inches wider and twice as long as the eyeglasses. Stack the material into three layers (the one that you want shown on the outer glass case should go on top). Pin the material together around the edges.

Sew the edges together with a sewing machine. Seam the sides shut with a running stitch. Fold the case inside out and stitch up the sides with another running stitch. Trim about 1/2 inch off of the edges with fabric scissors. Sew a snap button on the end.

Foam Eyeglass Case
Purchase the foam color of your choice from a craft store. Cut the foam with craft scissors and fold it in half. With a black marker, mark the fold on one end so that you can identify its center (this will be the bottom part of the eyeglass case). Unfold the foam and make holes with a hole puncher about 1/4 inch from the edge. Continue down the side and across the bottom until you hit the center mark.

Make sure that the holes align with the center mark. Mark the inside each of the punched holes. Unfold the foam. Punch another hole where the marks are. Fold the case in half again, and begin lacing it up starting from the bottom corner. At the end, tie both ends together in a knot and cut off any extra lacing thread.
