It still holds the highest demand for advanced tickets on Fandango and held for a year, until its sequel Eclipse, the biggest midnight opening in domestic box office with $26.3million. However, in June 2010 when Eclipse premiered New Moon’s record was broken by an impressive $46.4million with a total gross of $72.7million.
The good news of breaking records continued when the third installment of the saga, Eclipse, premiered entitling the film with a record for the biggest opening in domestic history for a Wednesday, beating Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen by $6,533,840 with $68,533,840.
