How to Clean Scratches on Eyeglasses

Eyeglasses are expensive, so you want them to last as long as possible. Every now and then, you may get a scratch on them; these scratches can make it more difficult for you to see. You can’t ignore them, because they won’t go away. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to clean your scratches so you can get the most out of your glasses without having to replace the lenses.

Instructions
things you’ll need:
Armour Etch
Q-tip
Toothpaste
Old Dutch Cleanser
Rag
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
Mothers Carnuba cleaner wax

1 Apply Armour Etch to your scratches. Put some of it on a Q-tip and apply to all of the scratches on your lenses. Let the Armour Etch sit for 5 minutes. Rinse your lenses with warm water, and your scratches will be gone.

2 Sprinkle Old Dutch Cleanser onto your eye glasses and rub in with an old rag. Work it into the scratches for about 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.

3 Open a package of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This product is not only good for cleaning your kitchen or bathroom, but can actually clean the scratches on your eyeglasses. Work the eraser over the scratches for 1 minute and then rinse off with warm water.

4 Work some toothpaste that contains baking soda into your scratches. You can use a Q-tip to do this. Wait 5 minutes and then rinse clean. Your scratches will be minimal, if not completely gone. If you don’t have toothpaste with baking soda in it, you can make a paste of baking soda and water. Slowly add the water until you get the consistency of a toothpaste.

5 Use Mothers Carnuba cleaner wax. (Buy the 16-oz. liquid wax.) Squirt some on an old rag and work over your scratches for 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse off and use the rest of the wax to shine your car, so it doesn’t go to waste.

Tips & Warnings
When you buy your glasses, pay a little extra for scratch coating. It’s worth it, and you will have less problems with scratches in the future. If your store doesn’t have Armour Etch, you can buy Whinks instead.
