How to Make a Wire Beaded Eyeglass Holder

Looking for misplaced eyeglasses is an everyday chore for many people. If you only need them for reading or when working with small items, it is natural to take your glasses off. Make a wire beaded eyeglass holder to create a leash for your eyeglasses. Your eyeglasses will always be within easy reach as they hang like a necklace pendant around your neck. This easy craft can be created in less than an hour and the supplies are so inexpensive that you can make several to match your jewelry of the day.

Instructions
things you’ll need:
Beading wire
Measuring tape
Wire cutters
2 crimping beads
Flat-nose jewelry pliers
Assorted beads
2 jump rings
Needle-nose pliers

1 Cut a 30-inch length of beading wire using wire cutters. This will provide a 24-inch length of beaded chain for your finished wire eyeglass holder.

2 String a crimping bead on one end of the wire. Fold over the end of the wire and insert 3 inches of it back through the crimping bead. Adjust so that a 1/4-inch loop is exposed above the bead. Place the jaws of flat-nose jewelry pliers over the crimping bead and squeeze to secure the wire.

3 Thread the first beads of your pattern over the doubled wire to further secure and hide the wire end. Continue to string a pattern of beads on the wire, leaving 3 inches free on the opposite end.

4 String a crimping bead on the end of the wire. Fold over the 3 free inches on the end of the wire and insert the end back through the crimping bead and through the first few strung beads. Adjust so that a 1/4-inch loop is exposed above the crimping bead. Place the jaws of the flat-nosed jewelry pliers over the crimping bead and squeeze.

5 Grasp one side of a jump ring opening with needle-nose pliers and the other side with the flat-nose pliers. Slightly twist the pliers in opposite directions to separate the jump ring opening.

6 Thread the jump ring on one end loop of the beaded chain. Thread a looped eyeglass holder finding on the jump ring. Grasp the ends of the jump ring with the pliers and gently twist the opening closed. Repeat on the other end of the beaded eyeglass holder chain.

Tips & Warnings
Place the best design of your bead pattern on the ends of the chain, as this will be the part of the eyeglass holder that will hang next to your face.
