Anti-reflective coating is put onto eyeglasses to make them easy to wear. When glare is reduced, there is less eyestrain. If you don’t like the anti-reflective coating, or it has become scratched, there are ways to remove the coating from eyeglasses. When the coating starts to come off, it can be distracting and obstruct your vision. If you decide not to have it removed by a doctor, there are ways to remove anti-reflective coating from eyeglasses yourself.
Instructions
things you’ll need:
Cotton swab
Hydrofluoric acid
Towel
1 Apply a thick layer of hydrofluoric acid over the anti-reflective coating on the eyeglasses. Use a cotton swab to apply it. Leave it on for five minutes.
2 Rinse the eyeglasses with warm soapy water. Do not rub the lenses as it could end up damaging them. Hold the eyeglasses under a running faucet until the hydrofluoric acid is removed.
3 Blot the eyeglass lenses with a soft towel. Do not rub or press too hard on the lenses. The anti-reflective coating should be gone at this point.
