There are basically three types of colored contact lenses available: visibility tints (not used for changing the color of your eye, merely to help in seeing the lens), enhancement tints or single-layer lenses, and opaque color tints or dual-layer lenses.
Most suppliers of colored contact lenses can provide the lenses in a prescription or non-prescription variety.
A single-layer tint is a solid but see-through tint that is a little darker than a visibility tint. A single-layer lens does change the color of your eye, but usually work if you have light colored eyes. Single-layer lenses make your eye color more intense.
Dual-layer colored contacts are darker and are made of opaque tints that will totally change your eye color. Dual-layer colored contacts are layers of patterns with solid colors. For people with darker eye color, dual-layer colored contact lenses will be essential to change the color of your eyes.
Single-layer and dual-layer contacts are available online in a large variety of colors such as hazel, aqua, violet, jade green, crystal blue, amethyst, gray and others.
Although colored lenses are manufactured to look like the natural colored part of the eye, the center of the lens is clear – otherwise you wouldn’t be able to see through the lenses.
Remember colored contact lenses are no different from clear lenses – they must be properly cleaned and disinfected using the proper cleaning products.
Another thing to avoid is sharing – you should never share any contact lenses, including colored lenses. There is a risk of infection. Look after your eyes, you want them to last a lifetime.

Be aware too that many online suppliers of colored contact lenses quote the price for a single lens – you will need to double the price for a full set.
