How to Keep From Losing Eyeglasses

Losing your eyeglasses can inconvenience your life for a few days, or even a week, while you wait for the optometrist to fill your prescription. If you are attached to your glasses frames, you may find it difficult to replace them with a similar pair. In the meantime, you may not be able to read a menu, drive, use your computer or even work. Treat your eyeglasses as a necessary and valuable investment; keep them safe and readily available at all times.

Instructions
1 Use a glasses holder. Your optician will provide a holder with your prescription lenses. Most holders have a soft interior to protect against scratching and a hard exterior to protect against dropping or squeezing the glasses. If you always keep the eyeglasses holder in the same place—for instance, your purse, desk or dresser—you will not forget or lose your glasses.

2 Buy or make an eyeglasses necklace. These necklaces are available in a variety of styles with different sizes of beads. Depending upon your taste, you can select small, delicate beads or large, chunky beads. Each necklace has special holders at each end to secure your glasses. Wear your necklace all day to keep your glasses nearby.

3 Buy an eyeglasses pin. Slip your glasses in the loop and wear the pin on your shirt, blouse or jacket. You may wish to buy different pins to complement your casual and dressy outfits. Buy a pin with a special charm to show your interest in a particular hobby. Alternatively, you can buy a jeweled pin for more glamorous occasions.

4 Buy an extra pair of eyeglasses. Some opticians offer discounts if you purchase a second pair when buying your primary glasses. Store the second pair in a drawer and use them only when your first pair is missing or broken.

5 Take out eyeglasses insurance. If you have purchased one or more expensive pairs of designer eyeglasses, protect your eyewear investment with an insurance policy that covers loss, damage and theft. Research the different insurance providers and select a policy that provides enough coverage for your lifestyle. If you are a frequent traveler, buy a policy that includes world travel coverage.
