Make eyeglass holders that coordinate with an outfit or that fit your personal sense of style. Eyeglass holder findings, along with beads, wire and beading tools, are available at craft stores and from online beading suppliers. You can make a single, double or triple strand beaded eyeglass holder for everyday wear or to fit any occasion.
Things You’ll Need:
Flexible beading wire
4mm to 8mm beads
Round nose pliers
Eyeglass holder findings
1 Cut a length of flexible beading wire one-inch longer than the desired length of the eyeglass holder.
2 Thread a crimp bead and a jump ring over one end of the wire. Bend the wire half an inch from the end around the jump ring and back through the crimp bead.
3 Press the crimping pliers over the crimp bead to close it. Most crimping pliers have two openings. First, center the second opening from the tip end of the pliers over the crimp bead and squeeze. Next, center the opening closest to the tip end of the crimping pliers over the crimp bead and squeeze again.
4 Thread any design of beads over the open end of the flexible beading wire. Size 4mm to 8mm beads work well to make a decorative and comfortable eyeglass holder. Fill the wire with beads up to half an inch from the end.
5 Add a crimp bead and a jump ring to the end of the bead strand. Bend the wire over the jump ring and back through the crimp bead. Close the crimp bead as described in Step 3.
6 Open one of the jump rings with round nose pliers. Slide one end of one eyeglass holder finding through the open jump ring. Close the jump ring. Repeat this step to attach the remaining eyeglass holder finding to the other end of the beaded strand.
Tips & Warnings
Make as many beaded strands as you like, and attach the jump rings at the end to a single jump ring. Attach the single jump ring to the eyeglass holder findings..
