How to Repair Plastic Eyeglass Lenses

Using plastic for lenses is a practical choice for anyone who wears glasses. They do not break as often as glass lenses, they are easier to clean and weigh a whole lot less. The only downside is that, after some time, they do get scratched. Before you start worrying about laying out a lot of money for new glasses or lenses, try a couple of home remedies that may save you the time and money of having to go to the optician for those new glasses.

Instructions
things you’ll need:
Mild cleaning soap
Water
Microfiber cloths
DVD/CD repair kit
Furniture polish

1 Wash your glasses thoroughly with mild soap and warm water. Dry the glasses with a microfiber cloth after washing.

2 Spray the surface of the lenses with the solution that comes with the DVD/CD repair kit. Make sure that you cover both lenses completely with the solution.

3 Buff the right lens using a clean microfiber cloth. Then proceed to buffing the left lens thoroughly. Try to look through the lenses and see if they are no longer scratched.

4 Repeat the steps again as many times as necessary to remove the scratches on the lenses. If your lenses are badly scratched, proceed to Step 5.

5 Spray furniture polish on your lenses. Let the polish sit for about 30 seconds.

6 Gently rub the lenses with the microfiber cloth until the polish is removed. The polish should fill any deep scratches on the plastic lenses.
