How to Glue Broken Eyeglass Frames

Eyeglass frames are designed for durability, but that doesn’t stop them from breaking under certain conditions. Frames will typically break at the bridge or along a handle. If you’ve broken the frames of your eyeglasses, you may need to have an eye care professional examine and fix them to ensure that they are working and fitting you properly. In the meantime, you can use hot glue to keep the frame together. Hot glue will adhere to just about every type of frame material. Glued frames should last you several months if used gently.

Instructions
things you’ll need:
Magnifying glass
Plastic wrap
Hot glue gun
Toothpick

1 Examine the glasses with your magnifying glass to determine exactly where the break is.

2 Cover your lenses with plastic wrap by wrapping and enclosing the entire clear area with as much plastic wrap as needed. This will prevent glue from getting on the lenses.

3 queeze a bead of hot glue onto the tip of a toothpick. Apply the glue to the frame using the toothpick. Dab the glue into the crack, coating both sides of the break.

4 Apply pressure to the broken pieces, holding the frame together firmly. Hold the area for about one minute to ensure a solid seal then release your grasp and allow the glue to fully set for 6 hours before wearing.

Tips & Warnings
If you don’t have hot glue, try using a super glue adhesive.
