How to Take the Glare Coating off Eyeglasses

At times the glare coating on eyeglasses can crack and make the glasses unclear, necessitating the removal of the coating. Rather than paying for a professional to remove the coating, it can much easier to do so yourself. The product Armor Etch is usually made to create personalized designs in windows and other glass surfaces, but when used on polycarbonate eyeglasses, it dissolves the coating, effectively removing the cracked surface over the lenses.

Instructions
things you’ll need:
Rubber gloves
Cotton swaps
Armor Etch
Non-abrasive towel
Microfiber cloth

1 Put on the rubber gloves. Since even small amount of Armor Etch can irritate the skin, it’s best to wear protective covering whenever handling it.

2 Dip one side of one cotton swap into the Armor Etch. Cover both sides of the lenses until they are completely coated with the Armor Etch. Do not rub into the lenses.

3 Allow the glasses to sit for five minutes as the Armor Etch dissolves the coating.

4 Wash the glasses under warm water until the cream is removed from the lenses.

5 Dry the lenses with a non-abrasive towel and use a microfiber cloth to remove any smudges.

Tips & Warnings
If any residual coating remains, repeat the process as needed until the coating is completely removed.
